Episode 2 - Kimani Reid on Mental Ill-health: A Silent Killer

Poor mental health, for many reasons, is something that has often been ignored within the black community; with black men specifically being encouraged to suppress their emotions.

My guest, Kimani Reid, feels that physical strength has taken precedence and resulted in a lack of emotional intelligence; with many men caught up in a silent battle, unable to articulate their feelings.

He reckons that if this issue is not addressed by continuing to shine a light on the situation - as well as organising safe spaces and opportunities for frank discussion - then those already suffering will go round and round in a vicious cycle which is not of their own making.

I learned a lot during this conversation, and am eager for Kimani and I to pick up where we left off - hopefully both the wiser for having had the opportunity to delve deeper.
