Up and Out

I realised quite early in life that if I gave into hesitation for whatever seemingly salient reason, I wouldn't get anything done.

This of course meant that I jumped headlong into many a situation which turned out to be a complete disaster, but perhaps my journey has been richer for it.

Less 'what if...' and 'had I...'

More "Darn! Perhaps not." and "Yemi! Why?!!"

Yet, I have muddled through and learned a lot of valuable lessons along the way.

Mostly that many an opportunity will come your way, but unless you reach out and grasp them, they will go their merry way and be someone else's success story.

What is is what's in hand.

Achieved only by reigning in diffidence and walking the tightrope from hypothesis to fact.

Does it always work?

Erm, nope!

Will it work?

You'll never know until you try!

Gideon was a farmer who appeared content to quietly go about his business on his family’s land. Yet whilst musing on the Israelites' suffering, he famously proffered a 'what if' by wondering out loud about past tales of deliverance and glory days.

Long story short, he was offered the chance to build on a wonderful inheritance, and his accomplishments brought unexpected promotion and stature.

Better still, he went from Gideon, 'the warrior' to Jerub-baal, 'the Ba'al fighter'. Always destined to fight, he discovered what for just because he was obedient to the possibilities of God. He stepped up, out, and into history.

The moment an 'if' becomes a 'when' is so much more than happenstance. There are no coincidences in the Kingdom of God. So, if you are truly walking with Him, what's ahead of you is of Him. And definitely worth a mighty proverbial leap of faith!

The answers to the ‘what ifs’ are all in the when.

📖 The Lord’s angelic messenger came and sat down under the oak tree in Ophrah owned by Joash the Abiezrite. He arrived while Joash’s son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress so he could hide it from the Midianites. The Lord’s messenger appeared and said to him, “The Lord is with you, courageous warrior!” Gideon said to him, “Pardon me, but if the Lord is with us, why has such disaster overtaken us? Where are all his miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said, ‘Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.” Then the Lord himself turned to him and said, “You have the strength. Deliver Israel from the power of the Midianites! Have I not sent you?”

📖 We know that God works to help those people who love him. He uses everything that happens to them to bring something good. He does this for those people that he has chosen to serve him.
