On Not Failing To Rise

As rich and successful as he was, the great American industrialist Henry Ford knew a thing or two about struggling in life.

Born one of eight children on his family farm then educated in a one-room school, he didn't have the most promising start in life. Yet he didn't let that stand in his way.

Gifted a watch, he stripped it down to its bare bones then reassembled it - several times - which gave rise to a lifelong passion for machinery. This eventually led to him founding the Ford Motor Company, and the rest is history.

Whilst it's true that for many of us the circumstances we are born into determine the path and direction our lives take, this is not set in stone. Paupers have been known to ascend palatial thrones; and yes, princes sometimes lose their crowns and kingdoms...

What matters is what is in you. That thing deep down inside that enthuses and drives you. That makes you reach for the stars and not settle for anything less.

For the astronaut - outer space beckons. For those of us who need a firm gravitational pull, there's no end to the issues that can be addressed and problems solved right here on earth.

Yeast.

A single cell multiplying exponentially, providing the active ingredient in numerous foods, beverages, medicines and fuel.

Inauspicious beginnings, yet eventual spectacular growth and influence.

It's all in the passion.

What's yours?

📖 Jesus taught them another parable: “How can I describe God’s kingdom realm? Let me give you this illustration: It is like something as small as yeast that a woman kneads into a large amount of dough. It works unseen until it permeates the entire batch and rises high.”
