From Boardroom to Sidewalk to Unbeaten Path

I recently attended a business workshop during which members of a panel were asked to speak about their path to success.

One particular gentleman was showered with accolades as he was being introduced. But rather than blithely acknowledge that he was in fact the super salesman being touted, he played it down considerably.

In admitting that the reason he'd done so well was he’d only sold products he believed in, he brought a whole new dimension to the proceedings.

It was like knowing that what he offered could only ever be of benefit made all the difference to his presentation and persuasion. It took the sometimes morally ambiguous issue of sales from tawdry to sublime in the blink of eye.

I usually spend train journeys catching up on texts and emails, and mostly unconscious of my surroundings. However, that night I was acutely aware of the people in my carriage.

Staring out of the window at the passing landscape, I wondered why I had never brought that level of conviction to evangelism.

Truth was, in my few and far in-between 'group' forays, I'm pretty sure I never conveyed the message of the gospel as a life and death situation. As in, my livelihood depends on making this 'sale', so I had better give it everything I’ve got.

I've sold the mere idea of a life-changing project with more enthusiasm.

Even snake oil salesmen are able to convince their many customers to buy a supposed cure-all that is essentially just a vastly watered-down version of a Chinese balm that may or may not reduce joint inflammation and muscle pain.

In other words, flimflam.

We, however, have the real thing.

Unseen yet tangible and the very essence of life.

Why then would we not want to share this wonderful news with all and sundry and with the certainty and vigour that only comes from believing it is all we need?

Food for thought.

As well as a tough journey made lighter by knowing we get to participate in God's transformational plans.

Non-profits beware!

This kind of charity is on a whole other level...👓

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

John 3:16 CEV (YouVersion)

And he said to them, “As you go into all the world, preach openly the wonderful news of the gospel to the entire human race! Whoever believes the good news and is baptized will be saved, and whoever does not believe the good news will be condemned.

Mark 16:15‭-‬16 TPT (YouVersion)

But I thank God, who always leads us in victory because of Christ. Wherever we go, God uses us to make clear what it means to know Christ. It’s like a fragrance that fills the air.

2 Corinthians 2:14 GW (YouVersion)
